Recipient Charity & Final Tally
Congratulations to 540 Golden Hawks for being the Recipient Charity! Together, we raised $15,800 in our Q3/17 event!
540 Golden Hawks is one of over 450 Air Cadet Squadrons in Canada and has been serving the youth of Oakville for more than 65 years. The Squadron provides Oakville youth from ages 12 to 18 with unique opportunities to gain valuable life and work skills such as teamwork, leadership, and public speaking, along with the personal benefits of increased self-confidence, discipline, initiative and decision making, and specializes in aviation, band, leadership, sports, survival and more. Cadets are encouraged to become active, responsible members of their communities. They make valuable contributions to society on a daily basis in terms of environmental, citizenship and community activities. It was an honour to come out and attend their Change in Command Ceremony, and learn more about this great organization and what they do. We had the pleasure to present our "big cheque" in front of over 200 cadets and their families. We'll be sure to get some of the cadets out to our next event to meet all the guys.
Thanks to a Great Group of Guys!
Our Q3/17 Event was HUGE success! It marked our milestone 10th event, where we exceeded $150,000 in total donations to date, for small local charities, making a direct and meaningful impact on our community! Thanks to all the guys who came out and supported the cause, and for those that couldn't make it but still donated. It was great to have Monique Armstrong come out and tell us about Ian Anderson House and how they used our group donation from our last event. We had the privilege of having some special guests in attendance to help us celebrate our milestone event, including our MPP Kevin Flynn, our Mayor Rob Burton, Ward 6 Town Councilors Natalia Lishchyna & Tom Adams, and PC Candidate Stephen Crawford. We also had the pleasure of reconnecting with representatives from our previous Recipient Charities including Home Suite Hope, Kerr St. Mission, Lighthouse, Food4Kids, Frontline Outreach, and Ian Anderson House. Special thanks to Dave & Buster's for providing us with a great venue, tasty nibbles and complimentary game cards for the after party! Big shout out to PKRE Properties for picking up the bar tab! Also a special thanks to our dedicated volunteers, including Andrew Sue-A-Quan, Mel Hum, Stefan Eyram and Vik Sachdev for holding down the registration desk. Spread the Word & Stay Connected
Let's keep the momentum going. Please continue to spread the word to your friends, neighbours and colleagues. Our group is not limited to 100 guys or Oakville. We want to focus on Halton based charities and are happy to welcome guys from Burlington, Brampton and Milton. Let's see how big we can get, and how much of an impact we can make in our local communities.
