Recipient Charity & Final Tally
Congratulations to The Darling Home for Kids for being the Recipient Charity. Together, we raised $16,000 in our Q4/17 event.
The Darling Home for Kids provides paediatric hospice care, residential support and respite services to families who have children with life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses. It is a place of joy, filled with the smiles and laughter of children engaging in unique and enriching experiences and exploring new and exciting activities. Medically fragile children receive wonderful care in a beautiful, warm and home-like environment, which provides comfort and a break to families facing the daily challenges of caring for a child with complex medical needs. Families are supported in knowing that there is a continuum of care from respite through to palliation and, when needed, end of life care. It was great to come out to meet Kristin, Melody and other staff & volunteers, and to learn more about this great organization and what they do. We also had the pleasure of meeting Trinity who is an absolute sweetheart! We'll be sure to get them out to our next event to meet all the guys and give us an update.
Thanks to a Great Group of Guys!
Our final event for 2017 was another huge success. All told, we raised over $65,000 in 2017 and have exceeded $175,000 in total donations to date, for small local charities, making a direct and meaningful impact on our community. Thanks to all the guys who came out and supported the cause, and for those that couldn't make it but still donated. It was great to have Captain La Combe come out and tell us about 540 Golden Hawks and how they used our group donation from our last event. Special thanks to Mark & Doug Eglington at Euro-Line Appliances for providing us with a great venue and tasty nibbles! Big shout out to Stan Zelek from PMA Canada for serving up Wyborowa Vodka! Also a special thanks to our dedicated volunteers, including Andrew Sue-A-Quan, Mel Hum and Rob Ruso for holding down the registration desk. Spread the Word & Stay Connected
Let's keep the momentum going. Please continue to spread the word to your friends, neighbours and colleagues. Our group is not limited to 100 guys or Oakville. We want to focus on Halton based charities and are happy to welcome guys from Burlington, Brampton and Milton. Let's see how big we can get, and how much of an impact we can make in our local communities.
